2018 Reunion - Sacramento
The 2018 Reunion of DD-786's shipmates commences on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Sacramento Embassy Suites Riverfront Promenade. Join with your friends and shipmates in the Hospitality Room (the John A. Sutter Boardroom) to check in and pickup your name badge and reunion packet. The Hospitality room will be stocked with snacks and beverages for your pleasure. In addition the Embassy Suites Hotel provides each guest with a nightly 2 hour reception (5:30 - 7:30) where unlimited drinks and snacks are also available. We encourage all attendees to take advantage of this hotel benefit.
Embassy Suites is located within walking distance of Old Town Sacramento and many other attractions.
Here are some important facts to consider. This hotel provides unscheduled airport shuttle service from the airport. Upon picking up your baggage, call the hotel and request the shuttle. (916) 326-5000. If you are driving to Sacramento, we think it would be wise to check parking costs in the neighborhood as the valet parking is costly.
Scheduled Reunion Tours and Activities:
Friday, September 21 - Sacramento City Tour and a visit to the California State Capitol. Lunch is included at the Rio City Cafe. The hospitality room will be open daily at 8:00 am. Included in your room rate, the Hotel provides a two-hour reception in the atrium beginning at 5:30 pm serving unlimited beverages and snacks.
Saturday, September 22 - Bus trip to Historic Sutter Creek with Lunch at family owned Teresa's Place in Jackson, California. Gabby will be our Tour Guide. We'll visit the Kennedy Gold mine and return to the hotel in time for the nightly reception.
Sunday, September 23 - Scheduled events begin with our annual business meeting at 8:30 am, then you will be free until 1:00 pm for our 1.5 hour Old Sac Underground Tour. The balance of the day is on your own until our ship's banquet at 6:00 pm in the River City Ballroom. Plated meal choices to include beef, chicken or fish. Our guest speaker is Shipmate Bill Dunbar.
